River and Pebbles are approximately 6 years old. Their owner died from cancer just under a year ago. During her illness, her greatest concern was for the welfare of her cats. It was very important to her that her beloved cats be adopted into a loving home together after her death.

Her close friend who made a promise to her that he would look after the cats cannot take them into his own home but has done everything in his power to try to fulfill her wishes. He contacted 4Paws and together we have been looking for a person or family that would give River and Pebbles the love and security that they deserve and that their former owner desperately wanted for them.

River is extremely outgoing once he is comfortable with his surroundings. He loves to sit and hang out with his person while watching TV or working on the computer. He sleeps on the bed with his person every night, usually snuggled up right next to her.

His favorite toy is a blue mouse; though he has several toys, this mouse is special to him. River LOVES the cardboard scratch boards. He is a good eater and he likes treats, but not as much as Pebbles. He is pretty low maintenance, but does need his snuggle time (just like any cat!).

River travels in the car pretty well—though he does like to talk (probably telling a story of a previous trip). And he goes into his carrier fairly easily. As a matter of fact, if the carrier is left out, he will sometimes sit in it, just hanging out.

Pebbles
River
River does have a low grade heart murmur. He is not currently taking any medication for the murmur. At this point it’s just something that should be watched—a change in activity level should be followed up with a vet visit. Pebbles is very, very sweet. She does take a little longer to warm up to new people. She lets her brother take the lead—if a new situation is ok with him, she will slowly join in. She is definitely the less dominant of the two cats.

She does like to be pet, but will be somewhat cautious at first. Sudden movement might spook Pebbles but a patient person will be well rewarded—as Pebble’s affection must be won, its not handed out to anyone who asks like with her brother.

She likes the cardboard scratch boards. She is a good eater as well, but LOVES treats-especially the Greenies for cats. If her food bowl is empty she will be quick to point out the problem—following her person around the house meowing until the situation is corrected.

The cats enjoy playing with each other. Sometimes, though, River wants to play more rough or more often than Pebbles in which case, Pebbles will let him know or just walk away. There are times when River is jealous of Pebbles getting pets and attention and in those instances he might chase her away (typical older brother).

River is neutered, tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV and is current on vaccines. Pebbles is spayed, tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV and is current on her shots.

River and Pebbles previously lived in a house with 2 dogs and 2 birds and were fine. We are not certain how they would be with young children.  They are wonderful cats who will make a great addition to the right home.
