Meet bonded brothers Scooter and Rascal! They like to play with toys and each other, climbing up and down a tall carpeted kitty tower. They are friendly and affectionate with their foster mom, who has had them since they were little kittens. They have been fostered with other cats too and got along with them equally well. They would be best in a home together without dogs or small children. The boys were born 9/3/23. They are neutered, tested negative for FiV/FeLV, are fully vaccinated and have been microchipped.DC Metro area / https://fourpaws.org/ ... See MoreSee Less

Solstice is a big boy, all dressed up in a fancy tuxedo! For being a young guy, he's a pretty chill cat. Most of his day is spent snoozing or looking out the window. Solstice is a great companion; he's always happy to be near his foster parents and even lets them give him belly rubs. Solstice is great with meeting new people and should adjust quickly to a new household. He likes other cats and liked the dog in his foster home. Solstice was born Jan 2023. He is neutered, current on rabies and distemper vaccinations, tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia and has been microchipped.DC Metro area / https://fourpaws.org/ ... See MoreSee Less

Emily is a shy-but-sweet 5–6 year-old domestic shorthair who was previously abandoned on the streets of DC and is now blossoming in foster care. She has a timid nature and needs time to warm up to new people and environments, but once she feels safe, she adores human companionship. Emily loves spending time in the same room as her favorite people and will happily curl up nearby—or in a lap—on her own terms. She’s low-to-medium energy, enjoys small toys and sliding around on loose rugs, and is a bit chatty, communicating with adorable little chirps rather than a traditional meow.Emily thrives on routine and is very well house-trained. She uses the litter box reliably, doesn’t jump on countertops, and isn’t interested in human food, though she eagerly anticipates mealtimes and will make sure you don’t forget them. She would do best as the only pet, as she can be territorial with other cats and dogs, and she would be happiest in a calm home with someone who spends a good amount of time at home, as she can become anxious when left alone. With a patient, gentle introduction and a quiet environment, Emily will blossom into a devoted companion who deeply values consistency, affection, and being close to her people.DC Metro area / https://fourpaws.org/ ... 🏈 Go team go! Basil is ready to be the newest member of your team! This distinguished grey boy strikes quite a handsome pose with his huge round eyes. Basil is very active and loves chasing his kitty friends, or playing with any toy that is tossed across the room. He gets along well with his roommate, Aidan, and is very interested in other cats. When other house cats are granted visiting rights in his room, Basil chirps and trills the whole time! It is unknown how he would be with dogs.Basil takes a LONG time to warm up to humans. He can be very judgmental and has a tendency to get a bit slappy. When (if) he decides he likes you, he purrs, gives eskimo kisses, and snuggles on the bed with you. He thrives on a calm, quiet, gentle house with older humans (teenager and up). He needs a predictable routine and patient humans to let him warm up on his own terms.Basil is neutered, microchipped, and tested negative for FeLv and FIV. His estimated birthdate is May 2025.📍 4Paws Rescue adopts to the DC metro area. If interested in Basil, please apply online at fourpaws.org to meet him. ... See MoreSee Less

Stray and Feral Cats

Found a stray or feral cat in Fairfax County? Help is available through Fairfax County Animal Services (FCAS).

Stray cats (lost or abandoned):
Email: animalshelter@fairfaxcounty.gov

Feral or community cats (unowned and outdoors):
Email: communitycats@fairfaxcounty.gov

FCAS supports community cats — including feral and semi-socialized cats, outdoor-born kittens, and lost or abandoned cats. They offer:

  • Community Cat Spay/Neuter: For feral and unsocialized cats who cannot live safely indoors. Cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and returned to their outdoor home.
  • Return to Home: Helps reunite lost or stray owned cats with their families, reducing shelter intake and keeping pets with the people who love them.
  • Intake Triage & Rehoming: Evaluates and cares for unowned kittens and adult cats, ensuring they receive appropriate placement through foster care or adoption.
  • Identification Support: Promotes microchipping and ID-tagged collars for owned and managed cats to make reunification with caregivers and families faster and easier.

If you find an injured cat, FCAS will assist if you bring it in during their operating hours.
