There are several managed cat colonies throughout Northern Virginia that need volunteers to feed our community cats cats once a week. These colonies are located in:
- Annandale
- Woodbridge
- Dulles/Sterling
- Ashburn/Leesburg
- N. Alexandria near N. Beauregard St.
- S. Alexandria off Rt1
- Springfield
- Lorton
In addition to feeding, there is always a need for help with trapping, transporting, and temporary housing. Training is provided!
If interested in volunteering, email volunteer@fourpaws.org with the location(s) where you are able to assist or other activities you are interested in.
Some background on community cats:
Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) is the most effective approach to dealing with the cat overpopulation issue. 4Paws helps many volunteers who care for free roaming community cats; cats who are unable to live indoors. These volunteers trap cats, get them spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and ear tipped. The ears are tipped so they can easily be identified as being spayed/neutered. The cats are then returned to their original location where the volunteers continue to provide them with shelter and food.
Thank you for volunteering. We can’t help cats without YOU.
